Hygiene Insecurity, also widely known as “hygiene poverty”,  is the inability to afford everyday hygiene products, such as shampoo, toilet paper, grooming products, dish soap, and more. Accessing hygiene products for families living with limited income can be surprisingly difficult.

Nearly 1 in 4 families struggle to afford essential basic needs and are making impossible decisions every day between what can be considered the “heat, eat, or health” dilemma - having to choose between food, bills, and health.

When it comes to hygiene insecurity, being unable to afford to afford hygiene supplies can affect both your physical and mental health. Living with limited income and being unable to afford basic needs is associated with a 275% higher risk of anxiety and 253% higher risk of depression.
